NORTHWEST GAUL. Veneti. Circa 60-50 BC. Stater (Billon, 22 mm, 6.42 g, 12 h), 'à l'octopède' type. Celticized head of Apollo to right, the hair in three rows of curls and ending in S-shaped locks. Rev. Charioteer, driving a cart drawn by a centaur to right, holding reins in his right hand and raising his left; below, hippocamp to right. DT 2308. LT 6811. A rare variety. Minor flan crack and the obverse a bit weak, otherwise, very fine.
